Weeping Willows

The four willow trees that you see were rooted from a piece of the old tree that was in DW wife's parents yard. It was a small tree that was brought from their old homeplace back in 1967 when they sold it and moved to the farm. The orginal homeplace was sold again and moved to Norlina, N.C. A minute market was built on the site and the beautiful willow was lost to construction. As the transplanted tree grew to about thirty feet tall over the next few years, located about forty feet from these at the pond, it finally began to show signs that it was dying, so I cut several pieces about five or six inches long and rooted them and the final results are the photo of the remaining four trees. I had planted several aroung the pond, but fishermen that were allowed to fish in the pond trampled on them and they died. We no longer let many people fish in the pond due to some leaving trash and old fishing lines around the pond. The old fishing lines would get into the bearings on our lawn mowers and mess up the bearings. So we decided that if people had no more respect for the property than that, we would just stop all fishing.
