Northern Vance vs Warren County Soccer

Warren County put forth a strong effort and has shown a lot of improvement this year. They have a lot more players this year and as the year progresses we should see a lot of improvement once all of the players learn about each other.

More Flower Photos From Our Yard

What are you looking at?

We still have flowers blooming around the yard, however, when you start seeing leaves turning red fall is on the way and we will soon be seeing the many colors of the changing season.

Hillside vs Webb

This was a short match, Webb came out strong and never let up on the pressure. They closed out the match in three straight games.

Smokey Mountain vs Southern Vance Soccer

This was a hard fought match and SV picked up a lot of experience in the match finding weak spots and strong spots.

Baby Turtle

Found this little fellow in the middle of the highway, so I turned around and picked him up. I carried him to my house and took a few photos and DW took him down to our farm pond and released him. I hope he likes his new home.

Star Wars Characters at Raleigh Road Drive In Theater

These were some of the characters from the Star Wars movies, they signed autographs for the kids and a lot of grownups. Some were signed on paper and Star Wars books, even some on the back of shirts. There was a very large crowd and the movie, featured a screening of the new animated film "Star Wars: The Clone Wars." The movie was sold out by 8 p.m.
Also as an added attraction Boss Hogg and Roscoe appeared with the "General Lee". The turnout was excellent and all appeared to be having a lot of fun.

Annual Pigskin Jamboree

The annual pigskin jamboree was a very successful day, coachs found out a lot about their teams under pressure situations. There was a fairly good crowd turnout also. The Marine in the photo is Sergeant Alexander K. Ewald, who has served in the Iraq war and is now working as a recruiter for the Corp in Henderson. If you see him express your thanks for what he does for our country.

Another Squirrel Photo

This little squirrel lives in town near the bank, he was sitting on this bluebird box when I went by, so I backed up rolled down the window and took his photo. He did not appear to be afraid and just sat there and let me take several pictures.

More Flower Photos From Our Yard

These are some of the latest flowers to bloom in our yard. The dry weather has been bad on flowers this summer, however, we did finally get 1 and 7/10 inches this afternoon.

Girls Softball Team Returns From Series

Congratulations to all of the players and coaches, this has been an excellent performance from all of you. Parents, friends and people of Vance County should be very proud of the young ladies. Just think for a minute of what these kids have accomplished this year. They never gave up and played under a lot of pressure several times and bounced back strong when their backs were against the wall. Looking forward to watch this group play again next year.

Hummers

Recently we had to move our feeder from the backyard kitchen window to the front of the house because the yellow jackets and other stinging insects had found the feeder and were running the hummers away from the feeder. So far it has been effective only a few of the insects have found it. hopefully the hummers can get enough to feed their babies before its time to head south again.
