Dinnertime Deer

These deer show up most every night to get a little corn that we put out for them. We also keep a salt block for them to get their minerals. The down side of this is that some of the flowers and shrubs that we have sometimes get their buds clipped by the deer. We have found that if we put some of my work clothes out when I take them off the human scent keeps them away from the shrubs and flowers. The quality of the photos is fairly good being that they were taken at dusk without any light assistance and through the window on our house.

Geese At Lake Gaston

This photo was taken at a private residence on Lake Gaston, it was taken last summer while on another photo assignment. You could get within ten to fifteen feet of these geese and they did not seem to pay any attention to people walking up close to them.

Rest Break

This dove got tired of eating sunflower seeds and decided to take a break on top of the bird feeder. Doves do not eat off of the feeder, but eat off of the ground. When I fill the feeder I put a certain amount on the ground for the doves. There have been as many as eight or nine feeding at the same time.

Blue Bird

This is one of the many bluebirds that show up at our farm each year. There is an ever increasing number of bluebirds each year. This could be due to the fact that more people are putting up new houses for them each year. We have a group of volunteers that build these bluebird houses year round. It started out as Newell Farms Bluebird Houses and has grown into a large enterprise. They have built over 75,000 houses in the past few years and are still going strong. These houses are shipped all over the country.

Barn Flag

Found this barn when I was returning from a house fire. Just caught my eye so I stopped and shot a couple of photos of it. It appears to have been on the roof for several years and has began to fade away.

Cardinal

This was a beautiful sunday afternoon, temperature was in the sixties, with a cool wind blowing.
Our feeders in the back yard see a lot of activity this time of year, with many different types of birds. Also we have a good supply of squirrels all year long.

Squirrel In Sunlight

This is the first photograph of an animal that I took with my new D300 Nikon camera. It has a lot of new improvements that I will have to adjust my settings for maximum effeciency. I can see more nature photographs in the near future.

Yellow Boy

This is one of the latest additions to our outdoor cats. He showed up one day acting like he has been here all of his life. Naturally we began feeding him immediately and he goes off and always returns near mealtime. Somehow he hurt his front feet and sits like this to take the weight off of them. After several treatments with "Wounded Warrior" salve his feet are doing much better,he is walking well, but still does this while looking into the back door waiting to be fed.

A New Visitor At The Birdbath

This nuthatch sat on this birdbath long enough for me to go and get my SLR camera and walk within eight to ten feet of the birdbath and take several photos. Evidently this little bird enjoyed being photographed.

Misty Morning

I work as a freelance photographer for a local newspaper. I was returning from taking pictures of a wreck that happened before daybreak. When I was returning home I came upon this beautiful scene
