A Snapshot Of Local Interest
DW let Baby Sister out in the yard and she hid in the azalea bush, she thinks that we cant see her. As we walked by she was real still and would not even move when we called her name.

These are the beginning of many photos of the annual Powwow held each year at the Haliwa-Saponi tribal grounds. Their dance gear are made of many beautiful colors and the beadwork is fabulous. Someone has spent many an hour doing the bead work. More to follow.
Baby sister was watching me in the front yard, giving me a sad look so I would feel sorry for her and let her out for one of her many inspection tours of our yard.
Found out that this is a Snowberry Clearwing Moth (Hemaris diffinis). It was very busy and really did not like me sticking a camera lens in it's face. Had to work hard to get this photo, it was so quick.
The photo of the wisteria was taken on the road to my house, it has been growing out of control for several years now. As you can see it has taken over the trees and undergrowth. This plant can be cut back regularly when it is growing and turned into a tree. It requires constant care each year to keep it from running wild. The tulip plant was photographed in our local cemetery. The whole cemetery looks beautiful at this time of year with the green grass and all of the plants in bloom. More photos later.

These are some of the fish in one of our three fish ponds. The large one in the middle is gold with black edges on his scales. He was about six inches long when I bought him, and now he is about twelve to fourteen inches long. We have to Black Moors in this pond, but you can not see them unless they swim over the light colored part of the bottom of the pool.

While checking out my mowers to get ready for the mowing season, I found this little nest on the ground in front of my mower shed. Evidently the limb that it was attached to had fallen off the tree and the nest was attached to the limb. When it hit the ground the little nest fell off and was near this limb. I think that it is a humming bird nest. We have found one other and it was very similar to this one.
