The fish are waking up and starting to eat again. They have not eaten all during the cold weather. Now that the weather is warming up they have come up from the bottom waiting for us to feed them.
This was a heart shaped rock that we found on one of our walking paths. If you click on this photo you will be able to see the fish in our farm pond better. They look like black spots in the smaller photo.
This is a snail that we found beside the walking trail and it looks like it is digging a hole for who knows what. May be to have young snails!!
This is a flying squirrel that has taken up residence in another of our Bluebird houses in our backyard. We already had one in the front yard. Perhaps it is an offspring of the ones in the front yard.
My name is Earl King and I live in a small town in the northern piedmont of North Carolina. I have been happily married for over forty years. We are located almost equal distance from Kerr Lake and Gaston Lake. Over the past twenty five or so years the area has had many people move into the area building nice homes on the lakes. We are basically an agricultural community, but fast becoming an antique center with many shops in our little town. I have lived here almost all of my life except for a short period when I helped build bridges in the Washington, D.C. area and a short period in the military. After finishing a thirty year career with the N.C. Department of Correction, rising through the ranks from a correctional officer to the rank of Superintendent III overseeing a staff of one hundred and fifty and four hundred medium custody inmates. I retired to enjoy my senior years, which I do each day the "Good Lord" gives me. I have always loved photography and assist local and state law enforcement photographing wrecks and crime scenes. I also work freelance for a local newspaper photographing sports events and other special events.

Yes, I can see the fish and they look like bass. Is that correct?
Love the photos. You can certainly tell spring is just around the corner.
Our fish are awake now, too! I posted a couple photos today. I am so happy - we were completely frozen over a couple times this year!
