More Images From The Farm July 26, 2008

Just a few photos from around the yard this morning, The flowers are so beautiful during this time of the year. We see a lot of small bumble bees, but not very many honey bees. It is such a shame that we as humans are suppose to be so intelligent, that we use so many chemicals and are slowly destroying the smallest of God's creatures with no remorse. It is a sin and a shame that generations to follow will never know some of the joys that we had as children or see only through pictures what we have seen in their natural environment. Also had to include a photo of "Bubba"

More Yellow Boy aka "Bubba"

As you may remember this is the pet that DW and myself had been feeding outdoors at our house. So we decided that we would take him to the Snap Van to be neutered. The doctor ran tests on him and found out that he was FIV postive. This is not contagious to humans, but she said he would have to live the rest of his life inside to prevent spreading the virus. So, guess what, we took him in and he adjusted immediately to the indoor life. As you can see he has taken over the end of my sofa. He sleeps on the foot of our bed while I'm out of the house, but when I retire to the sofa to watch a little TV, here he comes. More as he grows.

Photos Taken In The Late Evening At Home

These two photos go with the two at the bottom.

Our little log cabin that was originally built as a craft shop. Building of this shop was with a lot of help from our aunts and nephew. It was a large success that we finally had to shut it down due to family health problems.
This is a passion flower bloom, these plants grow wild on our farm. The picture below is fruit of this plant and it is ediable. Local people sometimes call them "May Pops".
The following photos are ones that DW and myself road around the farm and took these at different angles and times late in the afternoon.

Ridgeway Cantaloupe Festival

These are photos from the annual cantaloupe festival held each July at Ridgeway. There was a large crowd and a lot of good food and games for the children, with local gospel groups entertaining the adults. One point of interest was the hit and miss engine that was running and powering two large ice cream tubs.

Babe Ruth Softball League 16 & U State Champs

Special Note(The photos show on this blogspot are protected by copyright laws, if you want to copy them you will have to have permission.)
The girls played a very tough game today and did not loose their composure when things went against them, they just kept pluging away and finally came out on top. The last pitch of the game was a heater and a very appropriate way for it to end. Congradulations to the players and the coaches on this spectacular win of the State Championship of the Babe Ruth League 16 and under. Keep up the good work ladies.

Henderson Vance Softball U12

These are photos of the Henderson-Vance 12 and under team. They are a very good softball team and played there hearts out to win. Sometimes you just do not get the breaks that you need to win all of the games, I am sure that we all will see more of these young athletes in the very near future, they all are very talented and they will be improving all the time. Congradulations to all of the teams playing in this tournament.
